Educating children to read will raise literacy in Africa. Literacy is the basis of a child’s learning. A person is considered literate if he knows how to speak, read and write. The first year of schooling plays a crucial role in developing a child’s reading and writing skills. Encouraging kids to read more will broaden their knowledge. It will help them do well in school and be prepared for a higher education. Aside from the teachers, parents have the most influence in teaching their children long before they encounter formal instruction in school.
