Do not forget the good of your ancestors and relatives. Even if there were elders you did not get along with, you have a great grandmother and father who have paved the way for you. Your ancestors left you clues. Give thanks to them everyday. Give thanks to their wisdom. Give thanks to your ancestors. Honor the work that your ancestors did for you by taking over their path-journey. Call on them, even those who are not directly related and give thanks.
You are afraid of getting on a camel; do not fear it, go to it, head on. Do not let anything stop you from extinguishing your fear. Put yourself on that boat you may fear and deliberately chip away at that fear bit by bit.
Have no negative thought; no matter what kind of disasters occur in your life. Do not put your faith in fear! Convince yourself out of fear. You can have a pretense of courage, until your courage grows stronger and you will conquer that fear. If you place your mind and feelings against fear, even if you are unsure at first, you will overcome that obstacle. You must work on the control of your mind against fear. Remember that on the earth many things may try to break you down, break your spirit and deter you from your goals. Many people, will walk, wander, or roam into your path and try to convince, or pressure, or hint to you that you do not have to work on yourself. Stay away from these thoughts that people put or throw in your path. You do not want to physically abandon your people all the time, because that is not the African way, but let your mind abandon the obstacles. Acknowledge them as the things you do not desire and take the negative thoughts out your mind, bury them and repeat to yourself your desire for peace, or whatever good things you want in your life.
What are you good at? You know you are good at something? Maybe when you were growing up no one pointed out that you were good at something. There are skills or talents and resources in you that you don’t even recognize are worth a great deal. Once you begin to see the things that you are good at, you will begin to not only see more of what you are worth, but maybe how you can use your good to share with others.
When you are positively given, be thankful. Do not negate the giving, even if it is something you do not want in your life. Be grateful, have a thanking heart. Give the unwants away if you must. Sometimes, we find that through our conditioning we undermine a compliment given. Instead, accept the compliment and be thankful for the giving. When you are thankful, you will receive more in your life. Your appreciation for life will send a message to the universe, to the Creator, God, the infinite source, divine force, that you are happy in what you receive and in what you have already, and abundance will be drawn to you.

God is love. The Supreme force is love. Love is an absolute power and you MUST love yourself. Start to master the understanding that if you do not love yourself, your love for others will be shallow. Love embodies many aspects. You will want to embrace love characteristics and apply them to yourself. Caring, giving, compassion, kindness, sensitivity, and understanding are some of the facets, and these characteristics are not interdependent of each other. Love is one of the most powerful actions in the universe.
Contrary to some beliefs, love is not passive; love requires vigor. When you give love, it should be given freely; do not will love to come back to you. That is not love. Love is also not waiting for love to come to you automatically; therefore, thinking this will stimulate and encourage your love because you cannot control another’s thinking. You cannot control another to give his or her love first, causing you to reciprocate. This is immaturity. While we give love we should not lose ourselves in the process. What is produced by this deficient thinking is a subconscious resentment, an insidious resentment that is ultimately quite harmful. Do not forgo love for yourself, thinking it is out of love, because with this, you are not loving another. So be careful, you who lose yourself in love. Love is coming from you, from the love of yourself first, and then it can be given to others. And when done purposely and rightly, it comes from the center of your being. Become connected to and in harmony with yourself. This is a must in order to gain knowledge of your expertise and to love the very fact that you are you, and you have skills. You not only have skills to offer others, but no matter what you may think about yourself at any given time, you are unmistakably BEAUTIFUL. Loving also requires knowledge of yourself. It is not selfish to understand and love all and everything about you. Love your spirit. I am sure you heard that saying, “If you don’t love yourself, how can you love anyone else?” Knowing and loving yourself is fundamental because loving someone else will be incomplete without SELF-LOVE. Through centuries of upheaval ancient African wisdom was handed to us, but forgotten and lost through the Middle Passage and Africa’s disturbance. Brothers and Sisters, Ancient African people exercised prayer in the most sacred and brilliant way. Many people think that prayer has no real meaning today. Some people do not pray or meditate, because they think it will not really affect anyone’s life. We think, “I have prayed and nothing has really happened.” If you feel this way, then you are not praying or mediating correctly. Prayer requires focus, because of the numerous obstacles you find in your daily path. We know that we must take action to help ourselves and others. Praying, focusing your mind on a specific thing, can and will move mountains. It is all in the approach. Clarity of mind is required and that can be a complicated task, because your mind is constantly clouded with the people and events distracting you and your daily path. However, you must learn that meditation and or prayer; a message to the universe, can and will affect your state of mental and physical being. Prayer is an art, and you must learn to master it before all your other skills, because it will catapult your success. It is all in mastering your own mind, which will put effects into motion. Our ancestors incorporated speaking to the universe very often, throughout their day. Their practice was not always with grand events, but simply by one word of thanking or an act of giving; this was their prayer and this you will incorporate once you see how and why. The complexity and simplicity of the African spiritual practice was intertwined with their way of life. Through our relations’ words and through their action, the spirit was carried out within the sacred and secular. If we are accepting, we will do this as well. This meditation and prayer can be expressed in many terms: thinking goodly, acting rightly, disciplining yourself, and giving of yourself. Much of it comes through being totally convinced in your meditation. Prayer is an act, an act of asking, believing, having faith and watching or feeling the results.
