My mother said to me once when I could not comprehend why I was being treated so unfairly but white male coworkers in the electrical trade no matter how hard I worked. I kept saying to her "It's so unfair. They are being so unfair to me." She replied "Sorry Baby, I never told you life was going to be fair."
I will always remember that statement as it helped shape the confidence in my ability. I don't have to depend on anyone else's opinion to know my worth. I had a successful 25 year career as a Construction Electrician and left when I wanted to.
